At least three 2006 / 2007 South East Division FLW Stren Tournaments plus the first FLW Stren Tournament of 2008 were won - plus the all time FLW record was just broken on a swimblade with a soft plastic shad body - aka "Lake Fork Secret".

1-12-2008 Zapata, Texas - Pro Jeremy Guidry of Opelousas, LA, caught a five-bass limit weighing 27 pounds, 13 ounces on January 28 to win the Stren Series Texas Division tournament on Falcon Lake with a four-day FLW Outdoors record of 20 bass weighing 110-02. Guidry's catch shattered the previous record of 105 pounds, 8 ounces set by David Mauldin of Tomball, Texas, during the 2006 Stren Series tournament on Lake Amistad.

What makes them so effective?

Bass actively feed only about 10% of the time.... The wounded, struggling bait fish action of this particular lure, however, aggravates bass into striking even when they are not actively feeding.

made with highest quality components . no weak links or split rings to get twisted up so will not break or fall apart . four lures in one - fish it like a crankbait, a spinner bait, a chatterbait or a swim jig . high quality polished blade can be quickly adjusted for a tight wiggle or a wide wobble without having to bend it . impossible to fish wrong, just cast out and reel back in . will not turn over or spin so can not cause line twist . highest quality / best "breathing" silicone skirt looks like rubber but won't stick together like rubber . realistic / natural colors . quality trailer . extra strong / ultra-sharp black nickel 5/0 Mustad hook . hand dipped heads . high confidence bait - perfect for tournaments - catches large numbers of bass as well as big bass

No one paid much attention to this type of lure for several years....

As soon as a few pros started winning big tournaments with them, however, supply couldn't keep up with demand and, for a few weeks there, Chatterbaits were selling for $100 each.

But soon afterwards, posts like this starting showing up on various bass fishing forums:

"I bought 2 chatterbaits several weeks ago. One of them separated on my first cast so that only the blade remained. The other one broke on my first fish.... Fortunately the lure did not separate until after I landed the fish. I wrote to (the manufacturer) and they promptly sent me replacements. However, the eye on the jighead of one of my replacements bent after just one fish. I may be able to straighten it but I fear it will soon bend again or break...."

Knockoffs soon followed, of course, but they too were plagued with the same problems... cheap materials, poor design and breakage.

"Skirt slips constantly. Hook is very dull. Caught nice fish on it, but the blade started to rust and tarnish. The next time I used it, the jig part of the lure flew off leaving me with just the blade."

"I've had these come apart on every brand I've tried."

Does this type of lure still catch big bass? Of course! In fact, they will out-fish a conventional spinnerbait 3 to 1 most days.

People just got fed up with the breaking problem. (What's the point of hooking a big bass, only to have the lure break and lose it?)

Thee solution? Custom made, pro tuned "next generation" Swim Blades by Bass Tournament Lures are made with the highest quality components and will not break under normal usage.

TOP BASS FISHING MAGAZINES

Bassmaster Magazine: "The hottest lure in bass fishing... part jig, part spinnerbait, part crankbait and completely effective on shallow bass."

Bass Times: According to Elite Series Pro Alton Jones,"These baits are quietly hot. Many Elite pros are catching lots of bass with them, but they're not talking about it. The hard vibrations excite the bass and entice them to strike even when they can't see it. It's (also) the best bait I've ever used for night fishing." Elite Series Pro Shaw Grigsby, "It's a better shad imitator than a spinner bait (and) bass still pummel it. In fact, it's one of my mainstays in the fall...."

Bassin' Magazine: "The big thing in spinnerbaits this year is chatter-style lures inspired by the ChatterBait.... This bait is essentially a jig with a blade attached to its nose. It wiggles and vibrates harder than any bait you've ever fished, and it's catching bass across the country."

Sportsman Magazine: "Professional bass fishing's tournament swing through Florida in January and February put the bait on the map with fisherman after fisherman showing up on weigh-in platforms toting huge bass that had swallowed the bait."

Also works great on Australian Bass

"Very nice lure. Im going to try it out in Sydney. These lures have just started to take off in Australia for species such as Bass and Barramundi. I might be in touch again in the near future regarding the purchase of more lures cheers George"

"Just wondering if you ship to Australia and if I was to purchase 10 swim blades in the 3/8 oz what the total cost would be, kind regards, I would most like like native colours for chasing Murray Cod." Nathan M

"Hi, i am keen to buy a few of your swimblades... if possible i would like them in 3/8 oz as i am using them from my kayak for Kingfish." Kerry

"Hi again, I purchased some swimblades off you not long ago... top stuff!!! I would like to buy eight more.... I hope you can post them all at once. These are great lures and I aim to make further purchases off you in the future cheers George."

What is it?

It seems that every year a new lure comes out that becomes hotter than a two-dollar pistol. A couple of years back it was the Senko, then the Scum Frog and various others. They were the "must have" lures. All it takes is one fisherman to win a big event or tournament with the lure and every angler has to have one. They forget about all the other lures that have caught fish for decades and snatch up the new lures like a bedding bass snatches up a lizard. This isn't a bad thing. Some lakes get so much pressure from fishermen with standard lures that when a lure maker introduces a new bait with a totally different action it really is a fish magnet. Swimblades are that Hot New Thing and it isn't a gimmick. This lure is the real deal.

At first glance it looks like a jig with a metal spinner blade on the front but its not. The funny looking spinner thing on the front doesn't spin but the small thin piece of metal does give the lure incredible action and a unique vibration that can only be compared to the vibration of a jitterbug on steroids. It also gives the lure an attractive flash much like a spinnerbait. But because the blade is loosely connected to the jig head, it gives the lure even more side to side action and the skirt has phenomenal lateral movement.

I was very skeptical when I first was offered them to try and put through the test. It looked funny and too much like a common jig with a spinner to catch my eye. Then I tried it out and was amazed at just how much vibration it produces. My rod tip was dancing side to side and it didn't take long to start catching fish in size and numbers. It was incredibly easy to tell when a fish was onas the vibration would immediately stopped. The best way to describe it is to call it the Ultimate Swim Jig.

How to Use it

One of the best features of this lure is its versatility. It can be used like a jig, bounced off of the bottom or slowly fished along the depths. It can be used like a spinnerbait or swim bait, being slowly reeled in from several feet deep right up to the surface like a buzzbait. It also offers a different look if you combine the jigging and spinning action and change up the tempo of your retrieve it will come in very erratically swimming much the same way that a wounded baitfish will swim. My favorite way to use it is to reel it in at a slow speed feeling for the maximum amount of vibration. I usually let it sink to the bottom initially after casting it before beginning my retrieve. Fish can feel vibrations below the water surface and they use that sense to feed. I have found that fish will follow it and come from long distances to strike.

Use this lure in deep water, shallow water or anywhere in between. It is that versatile.
